Hard drives are commonly dropped and the chances are if you do so you will damage the heads or platters, may be both you could find that the motor even suffers failure. When we start to come across problems of this nature such as dropping the media at the pool the motor is useless in our data recovery you simply cannot dry it out and would need to swap the platters into a working drive.
